Mid March Progress Report

I’ve been stitching away on a variety of projects this month. It’s kind of been a hodgepodge and this update is long overdue!

Here is Jeannette Douglas’s ABC Sampler with a few letters added:

As I’ve been working on this I have been questioning some of my colors. The color used in the double dividing line and the J for instance has a very bright purple in it that I don’t have as a solid. That should be used on at least one letter. The O is getting lost. I think I might restitch it or the U in the purple. I like the limited palette on the Drawn Thread Sampler (it is perhaps too limited) and I think I should rein in my color exuberance in this one a bit. hmmm.

So I’ve also been at work on The Drawn Thread Sampler of Stitches and have almost finished this next set of letters!

For my small this month I’m going to try to finish up the stitching on the Shepherd’s Bush project which I had started in January. That should be doable:

If I have time, my planned ornament this month is a Just Nan mouse…I have several to make but this is actually the newest one called Holly Go Brightly (so CUTE!) I stitched the outline to see how big it is so I know how much linen to cut for all the ones I plan to make eventually.

Kudos to 123stitch.com for their fast service!! I got my Trebizond in 2 days from placing my order and have finished the border (it just took 1 more length of thread and 3 more beads)! I am starting the Hardanger.

Figuring out the order of work is a challenge. I’m not really happy with my Hardanger so far and I keep having to cheat to make the woven bars go in the correct direction. It is time to study this and see how to do it properly because there is just too much to work it randomly without a pattern!

I’m not sure I’ll finish this project this month, but for sure before Easter. I am anxious to stitch on one of my samplers!

  1. Your anniversary project is going to be amazing when finished, I love the ribbon work, such a lovely colour.

  2. Oh my, you have so many beautiful projects going on. The 50th Anniversary is amazing. I couldn’t even imagine stitching hardanger. It’s going to be an amazing gift of love.

  3. What beautiful projects, Mary–love the DT Alphabet so much. And your hardanger looks incredible to me… I’ve never even attempted it so my hat’s off to you! ♥

  4. I love both your Alphabet Samplers, the colours look fine to me. I like strong dark colours so I would frog the O myself.
Your Hardanger is lovely too, it’s something I can do but haven’t spent the time perfecting it so generally don’t do it!

    1. Thanks! You probably can see now that I did frog the O. I plan to do the U as well and make it purple. That Hardanger is a little dull and picky for me, I’ve been putting it off!
