I’m taking part in Jo’s People’s Choice this month to highlight pet themed stitching. For me, that means cats.
Although I don’t have any pets at the moment, until recently I had cats my whole life, and before children I also went through a period of serious fish-keeping. But I learned that aquarium fish are more a hobby than a pet, and if I were to have another pet I’d pick more cats! I don’t believe I’ve ever stitched a fish. Hmmm. May have to change that!
I have stitched a few cats in honor of my dear old cats over the years, I have this Mill Hill cat for instance…
And Leaping cat from La D Da. I am partial to orange cats because of Kiwi!
I also enjoyed stitching cats on these Drawn Thread designs because they remind me of my first cat when I was a girl, Minou, who was gray. I do like a good gray tabby with a white bib!
I changed the dogs to cats on the Pink Sparrow Sampler by Brenda Gervais. These are calico or tortoise shell kitties I guess. I really do like this sampler with cats.
Another little “cat and birds” project is this sweet pillow from Chessie and Me. I do think the Chessie and Me cats are sweet.
I have one more by her, and was glad to have pets be the theme this month because it reminded me my plan to finish this other Chessie and Me project:
My plan was to stitch the same design in reverse with an orange tabby and make it into a needlebook. I guess I know what I’m doing for my small this month!
Thank you Jo, for hosting People’s Choice! Head back to Serendipitous Stitching to see more pet inspired stitching!
I do like the tiny over one birds in the Chessie & Me design, plus to way you have stitched the eggs in the nest with French Knots I assume. Lovely.
Lovely Mary! I plan to stitch Pink Sparrow and I bet you know what I am going to switch those plain dogs to! 😉
Kiwi looks a lovely cat, a great age too. Your cat stitching is,lovely, I really like your Leaping Cat Sampler.
Thanks for taking part in The People’s Choice this month. I think cats were the run-away winners of the Most Popular Pet award!
I like the over one cat watching the needleworker and that final giant cat. I do like an oversized cat in a sampler!
