2022 in Review

Happy New Year! After reviewing my photos. I found I stitched more than I thought I did this year!

I participated in Carol’s Instagram challenge…12 in 22 ornaments which resulted in 10 new ornaments, 8 for Christmas, 1 for Easter

and 1 for Halloween.

I did also stitch 4 letters for Clare’s alphabet tree too so I guess I made the goal!

I enjoyed Smalls stitching as ever I do! I finished quite a few needlework accessories and pin cushions. 6 were finished…

And 2 need to be made up…

One stitchy project which was not cross stitch was my Bee Skep pin cushion. I love it so much!

I also fully finished one needle roll started in 2021

And finished the stitching the other…

For pieces destined for framing, I have 4 small stitches…

I worked consistently on my Sampler of Stitches by The Drawn Thread.

While it is all one big project, it is 9 parts and I finished 6 of them! 2/3 done but honestly the last 3 charts (or 2 1/2 as I’ve already started one) seem like they’ll be a breeze,

My triumph was the 50th anniversary piece I made for my parents.

And getting the stitching done on the Spanish Sampler Etui. Except I do need to stitch my name in the blank middle square which will be the bottom.

I go into 2023 with good starts on some highly enjoyable WIPS, mainly

Rosehips and Ivy

Jane Plenderleath

Jeanette Douglas’ ABC sampler (which I left off on after finishing the Alphabet)

And finally my problem stitch, Luz Gonzalez. I will be changing out the brights silks on Luz so I’m happy with it. I’ve already selected them, made sure they will work, and now I just need to frog and restart that large peach rose.

But I’ll share more about my 2023 plans later this week. Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

  1. A beautiful collection of stitching, you certainly had a busy needle in 2022. Thank you so much for your letters, Happy New Year

  2. You were very busy Mary! And such gorgeous projects. That beautiful rose heart with the pink bow stands out for me!!!

  3. It’s lovely to see all of your achievements for the year together, especially when there’s such a variety of shapes and sizes! I’m glad the alphabet came good in the end; the frogging must have been so disheartening but hopefully there will be no more. Thanks also for continuing to run the Smalls SAL. I know I missed a few at the end of 2022 but I will be back with a vengeance in 2023! Here’s to a happy, healthy and stitchy 2023.

  4. You certainly did stitch a wide variety of things last year. I do love your samplers, especially the large Drawn Thread design. Looking forward to that one being a finish this year.

  5. Wow, so many beautifully stitched pieces, finished and WIPs!

The 50th anniversary piece you made for your parents is gorgeous.
