Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

At our house we are still celebrating the 12 days of Christmas with lots of cookies, games, and enjoying time off from the Real World. I am very excited about 2017 and my Grand Plans! I will continue Heirloom Nativity and Random Thoughts, with a reasonable hope of finishing them this year. And if I stay on my schedule, MID-year! Hopefully giving me a chance to start something else big and fun (and there are lots of choices!) I will do the 2017 Smalls SAL and ALSO the  Snowflower Diaries Joyful World Calendar! That is enough. I dare not add anything else Official at this point. But we’ll see. I was very lucky to receive some beautiful projects for Christmas and took advantage of some excellent sales to give me a wealth of beautiful work on into the future.

In the meantime, I couldn’t resist starting on one of those, Christmas Blessings by La-D-Da. It is a complete kit with backing felt and ribbon hanger. This is about 1 day of work-what I could get done on New Year’s Day . Looks like it will be a quick stitch and finish!

I have signed up for the 2017 Smalls SAL at Stitching Lotus and it’s a good thing too. With a couple big projects going, I need some little things that will actually get done more quickly to stay inspired and feeling like I’m productive! I decided to get started early on the one for January, Mon Petit Jardin by Atalie. I LOVE Atalie, but it is not available anywhere I can find in the US. I have been lucky to get some shipped to me from all over, and in the process discovered some really wonderful shops in France, Belgium, and Switzerland.  Getting her recommended colors-all from her own overdyed collection-is another matter so I swapped out everything. In a couple days I have it about half done. Not too bad a start for something due January 27!

Between the Holidays

Between Christmas and New Years and family and feasting there has not been a lot of stitching going! And Random Thoughts seems to be coming along SO SLOWLY. I’m not sure why-it seems like it should be quick. And you know, I was saying before about Birds, that I always thought many pieces from Drawn Thread were a little drab color-wise-and I must be wrong because Birds was very nice…weelll….this is a little too drab for me. No, No! I like it and the motifs are sweet and I like all the variety! But the colors…well if I had more confidence for that and if it didn’t already come with the silks, I might try to brighten it up.

Now here’s a little more on it and I think as I get more elements on it that will help a lot. It is subdued and that’s restful anyway.
