It was a good month. I stitched a lot, but of course I never stitch as much as I want to! I must be happy with the time I have and what I got done in it, and that\u2019s what this post is about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I already shared with you my 2 finishes and FFO, the Italian Peacocks Purse and Strawberry Garden, and little purple box:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I made progress on my 2 complicated butterfly projects from The Bucket List;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I spent the last couple nights of May working on the Bargello Roll. I started the brown. I don’t love brown but it works so well in the color scheme. Overall it is an extremely beautiful set of colors. It just gleams in real life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I started not one, not 2, but 3 things! You\u2019ve only seen 1 of them, the Treasure Box from The Drawn Thread. Here it is with a little more done:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I needed a purse project for some waiting around I had to do so I started a Mill Hill king. I already stitched one a couple years ago and he is lonely so I really must try to get his friends stitched:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I started the next big Bucket List Project, here is the glorious Dorcas Haynes from The Scarlet Letter. I could not wait another day to start her after picking up the last threads I needed at The Attic this past weekend. I got this far:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But then, looking around for more information about this sampler, I remembered that it was also charted and taught by Darlene O’Steen. I saw some examples of the O’Steen version, and as it was charted from the colors on the back of the sampler, it is much brighter and…the colors make more sense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one on the left is the Scarlet Letter version, the center one is the original sampler front and the one on the right is the one using Darlene O’Steen’s colors selected from the back. I am not sure who are the stitchers of the 2 examples, but I thank them for posting their pictures online so I can compare!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The vines are green or brown! The grapes are red and burgundy! And the whole alphabet is equally visible. So you know what I’m going to do? I’m starting over. I haven’t gotten very far anyway, it is 2 nights stitching here, and this is too big a project not to love the colors. While I have to use the Scarlet Letter chart (which is a very good chart), I’m going to pull colors to match as best I can the O’Steen version and go for something a little brighter. This will take some more research! Fingers crossed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
