It\u2019s stitched over one on a 20-22 ct uneven weave toweling as called for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had a wet Easter, the first I recall it\u2019s raining in the 20 years we\u2019ve lived in Arizona. I learned actually it\u2019s the first rain on Easter in our area since 1999. But it didn\u2019t stop my cactus which set itself to bloom on Easter! It usually does bloom late March\/early April but the timing was especially nice this year for it to bloom on Easter. The kids hid an Easter egg in it. That gives an idea of scale of the bloom. It\u2019s impressive.<\/p>\n\n\n

It is a kind of Trichocereus or torch cactus but I don\u2019t know the variety. The blooms last one day only. Mine generally does a \u201cbig show\u201d like this once a year and then will give another 1-3 simultaneous flowers blooming 2 or 3 more times after that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had more pretty flowers inside. Check out this fabulous bouquet of roses!<\/p>\n\n\n

Our Easter feast was turkey this year\u2026the turkey that was supposed to have been for Christmas, but we were a little distracted a Christmas and I wasn\u2019t up for dealing with it. The turkey came out great. We had the usual turkey sides of potatoes, dressing, and cranberries, and to be more “spring-y” we had asparagus. I did make one of our family\u2019s traditional Easter sides, Persian rice. We had ALL the carbs. Cuz’ we had cinnamon rolls and egg casserole for breakfast (egg casserole has a lot of bread in it too). <\/p>\n\n\n

You get the crispy top by mixing part of the rice with yogurt and spread on the bottom of the pan. It is a no fail way to get the perfect crisp. Maybe it’s cheating but I don’t care, it comes out beautiful every time. The crispy top is heaped over this year with dried cherries and pistachios. I couldn’t let the orange I used the zest off of to go to waste so that’s a garnish too.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

This makes a pretty dish. Here is my recipe,<\/a> we think it is very delicious. I find the recipe very accessible and not really very difficult after you make it once or twice to get the hang of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Am I going to talk more about stitching? You bet! Not just food and flowers though those are also my favorites in life. I’ve made a bit of progress on my La D Da stitch…it’s not quite done but I’m getting closer. This is Flowers From Mary. I made a bad mistake. I made the left border one stitch too short and so everything on the left side is cramped in by 1 stitch. I am very displeased with myself but I am not going to redo so much of this. I don\u2019t think. But it does make me mad!<\/p>\n\n\n

Guess what my news is? I am on one episode of Flosstube at The Attic! Here it is!<\/a> You will find me making my Flosstube debut at minute 11:17 . It is quite short, but then you can see what I look and sound like! Maybe that\u2019s interesting for you? It seems like Flosstube is kind of where a lot of the social media stitching world is at. Not me so much, but I’m glad I got to be there for a snippet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
