Between Easter, gardening, and busy kid schedules, I didn’t stitch too much after my last post. I finally DID finish the bouquet of Cheerful Bouquet…here it is… (and I started the sawtooth border)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I decided to do the sawtooth border in 2 ply. I will run out silk I from the kit I think, but I have a skein so that’s ok. It’s just off white so I don’t think it will be a problem. The border goes pretty quickly, I just need the TIME!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I set up a finishing station in my multipurpose room. The MPR in my house is supposed to be a dining room but it is too small. We are 7 and if we had guests, a table large enough for 9 or 10 won’t fit in there without extending into the adjoining room, it really is a silly layout but I wasn’t thinking of that when I was a young mom with 2 babies and we were househunting. So it is an MPR. It has mostly been a playroom or a storage area or a staging area, and for a time it was the exercise\/computer\/keyboard room. It’s destiny is to be a library and sitting room but that’s a ways off yet. Now it is again a playroom and a craft staging area! All this preamble to show you that I’ve been working finishes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is the Pinwheel from Fanny Collins 1853 by Fox and Rabbit. Once I had finished it according to the instructions using my finishing kit, I found this adorable and perfectly sized wooden birdcage cutout in my stash, so now my plan is to find a non permanent way to mount the pinwheel on it for display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is a Stacy Nash Birds of a Feather ornament\/pin disc that was supposed to be a needlebook…I may add some trim like a ribbon ruching around the whole thing if I can find more to match the bow, but it’s nice and clean without so I also may just leave it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just when you thought I only put bows on everything, here’s the biscornu from Jean’s Etui set by Haystack Stitching that I did in honor of Jean Lea last year…No bows…buttons!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last I will show you my garden and my cucumbers. I am very proud of them. This is the best cucumber crop I have ever grown. This is off just one little pot of them! They are called Persian Cucumbers and they are very delicious. How many can you spot?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also have tomatoes, green beans, mini “lunchbox” peppers, various herbs, and hopefully will have cantaloupes. For those of your wondering, my garden will probably mostly burn up in June and even if it doesn’t, it will be too hot for almost anything to fruit except possibly the cherry tomatoes. We are on a slightly shifted schedule from the more temperate climates!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While I’m hoping I’ll get one more post in this month, but if I don’t there’s good reason why…My oldest is graduating high school and getting ready to go to college many states away. He has been recruited to play baseball (he’s a pitcher) for a D1 team and we couldn’t be more proud or overwhelmed to watch the next step of his dream come true. I have 2 children being “promoted” to the next level of school so there are ceremonies for that…we have a big birthday celebration for my middle girl (14!)…many school events and family in town to help us celebrate the milestones. The finishing area is being shut down and all the stash will be safely stashed for when life quiets down a tad.
