Strawberry Garden

I diligently worked away on my Strawberry Garden (from Blackbird Designs) all weekend, spending all my stitching time Friday night and a good chunk of Saturday afternoon stitching the vines with lazy daisies. I saw someone comment upon finishing this one that they would be glad to never have to stitch another lazy daisy as long as they lived after doing this one. I can appreciate the sentiment! The random spacing, irregular size and direction of all those little leaves is extremely time consuming to count and stitch, but the effect is wonderful. I think it is why so many people love this pattern! The contrast between the tiny little leaves and the big flowers and berries is very nice.

I rewarded myself for the tedium of those vines by stitching on some of the colorful flowers too, and I finished the border while the kids were swimming (I didn’t need the chart for that!)

Perhaps I could finish this next weekend, and for sure with 2 more weekends. It would be a lovely finish for June I think.

  1. This is a gorgeous project but I’d skip the lazy daisies! Definitely my least favourite stitch. The colours are wonderful, especially those reds.

  2. That is a beautiful design and Such lovely colours used. think i don’t have the patience for the lazy daisies though.

  3. I’ve been catching up on your recent posts, Mary. Your peacocks are lovely, I look forward to seeing the purse. I looked at the tutorial and it looks as if some patience will be needed 🙂 .
I love the projects that you are currently working on.

  4. Oh, isn’t this pretty! I don’t think I could have managed all those lazy daisy leaves, though–they drive me crazy. Yours sure look perfect, Mary! Congratulations 🙂
