People’s Choice: Birds!
This is a People’s Choice theme for which I have a lot to share! I just LOVE to stitch birds! I am excited to share some of my favorites again with you!
How about this very old one, Wise Old Owl from Raise the Roof? This was stitched before I started blogging and I’m not sure I ever shared it! I think this was the first thing I ever stitched with overdyed floss on linen!
While I’m sharing owls, here are 2 more from Just Nan, Oakley Owlet and Mr. Nutley Owl.
Another from long ago, with an owl and other birds is For the Birds from The Drawn Thread. I still love this one so much. And that CAT!
Another of my favorite framed pieces featuring birds is this Plum Street Friendship Fraktur. It is readily available now, but when it came out it was a club piece and I had to be eagle-eyed and quick to snag a kit. I’m not sure I ever shared the framed version on the blog, but I was really pleased with the finish.
Of course many of my smalls have birds, of all colors too!
As I went around my house I found birds on a lot of other things I’ve stitched. Here are some really cute ones on Autumn Quakers from Rosewood Manor:
And of course on the Pink Sparrow Sampler from Brenda Gervais:
And I didn’t take pictures of all of the little birds on my Just Nans and Drawn Thread samplers but there are probably a dozen more on those!
I think birds are just one of my favorite things to stitch. And looking through my stash drawer I see I have many more birds in my future as well.

Oh goodness Mary, what a wonderful collection of pretty stitching. I absolutely love the Wise Old Owl and the Drawn Thread pattern with that little cat, The gorgeous colours of the Plumstreet design with a frame that matches so well the stitched surround – perfect.

They are all such beautiful birds, I think my favourite ones are all the owls!
