A Lady’s Sewing Roll
Is DONE!

Except not the pocket. And not the smalls. I feel like that is almost starting over! Boo Hoo! But I have met my goal of getting this big part stitched and I love it.
This watered silk is what I’m using to line it.

I will square up the linen to start the pocket this week. The pocket is so small compared to the roll I should not be afraid of it. I decided not to finish mine strictly according to the directions for a bunch of silk interior pockets and loops and straps and stuff. I will spend some time thinking about my own tools and how they might roll up in this and then make it accordingly. I have not made a fancy interior before and am just a basic sewing machine user. I will look for some inspiration online as I don’t have a budget to sending things off to a finisher. Though if there ever was a finisher-deserving piece it’s this one!
Congratulations on finishing the stitching, and good luck with using the watered silk; it’s not the easiest of fabrics to work with but looks absolutely perfect.
Thanks! I know it! I am dreading it a little as after the Peacock purse, I know how shred-dy it can be. I do know to cut bigger than I plan to account for the shred, and I’ll buy some of that fray check product as well so the thing doesn’t fall completely apart while I’m making it!
Well done on a super finish, that’s a beautiful piece of work, I love your fabric choice
Thank you so much Clare!
Oh, this is just stunning, Mary! Those colors… sigh! And the silk you’re using to fully finish it is just perfect!
Thanks!!
Congratulations on the Happy Dance for the stitching portion of this project! The silk is gorgeous and will be perfect for the design. Looking forward to seeing how you continue.
Thanks, Jo!
I’m mesmerised by your beautiful stitching! It’s wonderful!
The silk will be just the thing to finish it beautifully.

Thank you so much! It has this amazing optical effect, almost 3D. It’s so interesting to look at!
The finished stitching is so impressive Mary and your choice the watered silk is ideal to complement it.
Thank you so much! It is just the right color!
