Happy Easter!
Still being in the Easter season, it is appropriate to continue with our Alleluias!
For my ornament this month for the Ornie SAL (this month’s theme was a free choice!) and Carol’s Instagram 12 in 12 ornament SAL I choose to do an Easter Egg ornament. It it out of a magazine, “Cross Stitch and Needlework” April 1998. An oldie but a goodie!
I loved this ornament from the moment I saw it. Just enough of each of the specialty stitches to keep it fun, and oh so elegant. I changed the ABC 123 to Alleluia and backed it will some of my ivory colored Thai silk:

That ornament is so beautiful.
I’m curious as to how you cut your backing board (mat board, whatever) for the inside of your ornament.
I find it difficult to cut smooth circles and ovals, but your egg shape is perfect.

Hi Barbara! Thanks so much! I use singer craft scissors which are heavier duty than regular scissors. I use mat board that I get from the framing section of hobby stores because they sell left over bits for cheap. It helps to rough cut the shape first and then perfect it instead of trying to cut your shape perfectly out of a large piece of board all at once. If I have trouble with rough edges I sand them and that helps a lot! I’ll have to try those craft scissors . . .
I do use mat board for ornaments, but i’ve only cut with a utility knife for square or rectangular.
Scissors would be easier.
