Stitch All Weekend!

It doesn’t happen very often, but thanks to several reasons, both good (Mother’s Day!) and bad (our whole family came down with a horrid cold – not COVID- and had to cancel all our plans!) I got to stitch all weekend!

Being the second weekend of the Instagram Blackbird Designs Weekend SAL, my night stitching was on Strawberry Garden. Here is where I started…

And here is where I finished!

I took it off the Q-snaps to work on the border. I couldn’t resist getting a bit more color on there so I worked on the a few flowers as well. The vines with the lazy daisies ARE tedious but the rest of it is coming along at a good pace. This is still one of my favorite Blackbirds. I feel so happy to be stitching it.

Saturday, the kids and Daddy had a new video game. I do not play video games very often but I like to watch the family play together. I worked on the Bargello Roll. Love it!

To give you a reference, this section is 1/3 of the total length of the roll. The last third tapers to a point. I have 3 more red and blue rows plus point.

The last sliver in the red ogees is a gold thread. I will save that till last on this section.

On Sunday, my family gave me some hours of Mother’s Day stitching relaxation. I worked on the Butterfly Brooch from Jenny Adin-Christie. I couched the gold purl outline.

I am super pleased with how well it came out!

This part had to be a “daytime” stitching project-I needed good, real light and the energy to focus. I haven’t been able to work on it since I started it back on my birthday! I am very pleased with my progress and getting all that outlining done. The next step is more couching the colored sparkly threads on the inside borders of the wings. That part is less picky I think as the border is now established. I will not need to wait for the next daytime stitching opportunity to do it.

  1. What a fabulous way to spend a weekend! Hope everyone has recovered from their colds now though.
I can see why you are enjoying the BBD, the colours are gorgeous. Well done on getting the outlines completed for the butterfly too. Looking forward to seeing more glittery gold appearing on that project.

    1. It truly was! Though I think I should have gotten up and stretched more! We are all recovered now and ready to enjoy our delayed plans from last weekend-birthday, baseball, and time with Grandma and Grandpa!

  2. I am sorry everyone has such a bad cold. 🙁
Your stitching is lovely. That brooch is fantastic!

    1. Thank you! We are better! We thank God for our general good health! There is nothing like illness to make you appreciate being healthy!

  3. Ugh on the cold, but hooray for extra stitching time! I’m so relieved it wasn’t Covid, Mary! Your pieces are looking lovely and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend together ♥
