This weekend’s work…after the weekend

Checking the “to do’s” off on Dorcas this weekend…

  • Berries on berry band COMPLETE (happily I found about a 10″ length of the color I needed for these…that is what had slowed down the completion of this step.)
  • “Dorcas Haynes Her Work” Smyrna band COMPLETE
  • Satin Stitch Floral Band…the last official band IN PROGRESS
  • My own inscription band at the bottom COMPLETE
  • Acorn caps in detached buttonhole
  • Bullion knot floral centers.
  • change “LIKE” in the verse band to a better color. The light pink is driving me crazy because the color is the wrong tone compared to the other words. “LIKE” REMOVED, NEEDS RESTITCHING

I also reorganized and tidied up my threads and my 2 (!) project bags I use for Dorcas and selected the colors for the upcoming work. I still need to pick the colors for the bullion knot flower centers. That won’t be hard. I just didn’t do it yet.

During the week this week, I hope to finish that Satin Stitch Band and hopefully restitch the “LIKE.” Then next weekend will be devoted the acorn caps and bullion knots. I will take whatever vitamins I need to avoid feeling twitchy. I don’t like stitching acorn caps because getting the tension just so makes my hands feel twitchy and stressed. I will see if a little magnesium helps. I am so excited. It is just thrilling to be so close to the end.

Finally here is a photo of my cats I took today. Alani and Sophie are 2 now.

The bush (called a bee bush) by our window attracts the “lesser goldfinch”. These very little birds can’t see in through the window because of the tinting on the window so they pick at the flowers or bugs or whatever is in the bush and are none the wiser to the danger lurking inches away. The cats go batty over them.
