Feelin’ Crafty

Oh, I was self-indulgent after some long hard days last week and DURING THE DAY (I usually do all my projects at night when the kids are in bed) I got crafty!

A while ago, I had a little beaded scissor fob that broke. I saved the beads and went to Hobby Lobby to get some better materials to try to fix it. Well, that led me to the bead and jewelry aisle, and I thought, if I’m fixing a fob, why not try out making one for myself?

So I picked out a bunch of pretty beads and that plastic filament string, and crimping tubes, and clasps. But not a tool because my husband has a lot of good tiny pliers for electronics and I didn’t want to commit to adding “jewelry making” onto my slate of hobbies!!

Then that stuff hung around for months and months. Finally last week I got a hankering to figure it out. And here’s what I came up with!

I LOVE them! I love them so much I want to make more and more! I do not have enough scissors for many many fobs so I will try not to go crazy but that will be hard! I guess I need to go back and get myself a tool so I don’t have to swipe my husband’s stuff!

I’ve also done some stitching and I finished up September from Joyful World!

Aside from quite a few color changes, I swapped the “month” on this one. This design was originally supposed to be October but I switched it with the Owls originally planned for September. I thought the Owls looked more Autumnal (I changed the apple into a pumpkin). And here in Arizona there is nothing autumnal about September. Also, I associate hedgehogs with school as one of my favorite teachers ever collected hedgehogs and they always make me think of her. So Hedgehogs-Back to School-September and Owls-October.

Only November and December left to go with the Joyful World Calendar! I really love how it’s coming out!

  1. There’s nothing wrong with swapping designs around if they make more sense. No-one would have known if you hadn’t mentioned it! The little beaded fobs are lovely too. Perhaps, as an excuse to make more, you can find other things around the house which ‘need’ beaded tassels?! 🙂

  2. Your beaded fob is wonderful. Love your newest stitches. Great choices. I’ve been gone this last week at a beach reunion in South Carolina with our six best friends from college. So today I’m catching up with all my blogging buddies. Hope you are having a wonderful week. RJ@stitchingfriendsforever

  3. Love your fobs Mary! If you go crazy and make to many you can always switch them to bracelets! 🙂 Your new stitches look great and I think it was a good idea to swap them to your liking.

  4. Lovely fobs. Great job on them. Love the changes you made. Makes perfect sense to me.

  5. Good for you making your own fobs! It can be addicting so yes, get your own tool!
Your September and October months look wonderful, what a great idea to switch them. I wish I thought to change it around too, I’m stuck on October and still need to figure out how to change it.
