Another bird
Good morning! School is out. Wheee! I think, at the beginning at least, I like school being on summer break as much as the kids, with nowhere to hustle off to first thing on a Monday morning.
Last night I watched The Attic’s flosstube. It is the only flosstube I watch because I need to know what the customers calling the shop are talking about! The ladies announced (I think this is a little tongue in cheek and not an official thing) their Tart Start Society…encouraging stitchers to start a brand new project this weekend. I am a pretty random stitcher anyway (A Process Stitcher as opposed to A Project Stitcher…I should write a post about that!) so I don’t need much encouragement to grab a new project and start it, especially when I’m feeling a bit Meh about all my other projects. Here’s my start from last night which I’ll work on through the rest of May. Unless I get distracted:

It is Mary Amelia’s Bird from Quaint Rose Needlearts. Whoa will it be a lot of stitching. And a lot of counting! But I just have to make it. The grandma I am named for is Mary Amelia and plus I love this colorful bird. I’m stitching with DMC on Duxbury as called for, mine is on 36 because that’s what I could get. It will be about 6.5 inches round.
I love how the bird is emerging already after just one long stitching night.
So how about you? Do you want to join the illustrious members of the TSS this week? Let me know if I should come check out your TSS start on your blog!!
I love The Attic FlossTubes. Jean is so dry and the other lady is so giddy, they always make me smile. I think they make a great couple. I also like Kathy and Nancy from the Inspired Needle for the same reason, they are so different and yet have great chemistry.
My little cousin is called Mary Amelia, named after my middle name (which is also my Mum’s and two Great Grandmothers’) and her own Grandmother.
I stitched her the Nora Corbett M Fairy when she was born.
