Finished 2021!
Happy Dance! Happy Dance!

Happy Dance! Happy Dance!

I finished Quaker Garden today! Isn’t is PRETTY???

I stitched this on 36 count flax colored linen (from Zweigart I think) with silks mostly from The Thread Gatherer. The solid green and solid rose are Gloriana and the white is Blanc Optique from AVAS (I needed a really bright white to show up on the flax. I’m happy with it.) Three of the Thread Gatherer silks are from a limited edition collection which was released in memory of Cecelia’s son with the proceeds going to organizations that support mental health and suicide prevention. As soon as I saw the colors I knew they would be very pretty on a Quaker and this Blackbird Designs project fit the bill. I LOVE the pastel rainbow used on the alphabet. It is called My Ladies and refers to her son’s chickens! The blue-green thread wasn’t in the collection. It is called Plum Guqin and it was so fun to stitch as well. What can I say, the colors made this project for me. It is just so soft and fresh.

I must offer many thanks to my friend for loaning me her chart as this design is currently out of print! But I heard a little rumor that it may be republished soon so if you want to stitch it, just be patient! I bet you’ll be able to!

I don’t know what I will do with it yet. I saw one stitcher made hers into a simply enormous drum. I don’t think I want such a huge drum. But I’m not sure I’ll frame it. Maybe make a pillow? I mean a normal pillow, not a pin pillow. Well, we’ll see. I just spent a lot on frames which you will get to see next month so maybe that’s why I’m not sure about a frame. In the meantime, I will iron it and hang it up in my closet with its “friends” who are also awaiting their Final Finish!

As a little PS, you know what I forgot to acknowledge? My blogging anniversary! It was September 28! I have been blogging for 5 years! Thanks so all of you who have read my musings! I have so much fun being a part of your community!

Oh, thank you, Jo! I am just astonished I have managed to keep it up so regularly for so long! It’s the first time I have been so consistent with anything in my life I think except perhaps reading. Oh, and maybe letter writing when I was younger. I wish I could be as successful with exercise! 🙂
