Belated Blog Anniversary!

Belated Blog Anniversary!

Oh dear … I checked my last published post and see it’s been over a month since an update! Yikes! I think I had planned a post for the end of September that was never published but now I can’t find it. I probably wrote it in my head! It was related to it having been my 8 year blogging anniversary on September 28 and my Sampler September progress! I don’t think I ever imagined I would be the type of person to blog consistently for so long. I’ve been a bit less consistent lately it’s true, but I’m still stitching and still here writing about it so it ebbs and flows and if you’ve been wondering where I’ve been…

I’ve been in Paris!

We had a wonderful family trip the first bit of October. It has been 16 years since I’ve been back to Paris. I had done a college study abroad there and then before children my husband and I often went especially during the time we lived in The Netherlands. But that is all a long time ago! It was So Wonderful to be back. I was grinning the whole first day.

I found the building where I studied as a student!

The weather was fine, we saw everything, just about, on my list, and we made a side trip to Monet’s house and gardens at Giverny.

And of course we ate a good deal of delicious food especially croissants and crepes and pastries.

We went to Sajou!

I wish I took more pictures! I bought some lovely fabrics and a few other little items…the ladies were so nice.

I did no stitching in Paris because we were walking 14,000-20,000 steps a day and I was beat at the end of every day and all full of stimulation. I couldn’t take anything but quiet and inactivity when we got back to the apartment. But on the plane and train (we flew into London and had a couple days there before taking the Eurostar to Paris) I did a little stitching. I brought 4 projects. Three I fully intended to work on for sure, and 1 as a “comfort back up” project. I’m not the only person who always travels with a security project bag am I? Just like a security blanket. Ha ha! Well anyway, I only worked on 2. That’s not too bad for a vacation actually.

Here are my travel projects.

Stitch #1 was Snip Snip by October House. I finished it! I bought this cute ribbon at Sajou to embellish the finish, probably a cushion, maybe with a scissor pocket on the back.

Stitching #2 was Souvenir de France, a freebie from Blackbird Designs. I would have it more done but I had a sleepyhead resting on my arm on the plane and couldn’t move my arm or use the light. It’s ok. I might finish it up this month. I didn’t get fabric specifically for this one, but hopefully one of the ones I got will work.

So, to have one other topic for this long post, how is Dorcas coming along? Well Dorcas didn’t get to go to France, I decided that was the safest option, but that means she’s behind. Here are the acorns.

And a close up…

When I have my feet under me, I’ll finish them up as well as the verse. Looks like I won’t finish this by December after all. Boo hoo! But I’m going to aim for January and I think that is doable. I’ll be getting back to Dorcas this weekend and hopefully have a good post for you next week about her.

Thank you for reading my long ramblings! I also hope you like my new look. Do let me know if you encounter problems with it or if I eliminated things you had found useful. Thanks!
