Almost finished!
Dorcas Haynes Progress

Dorcas Haynes Progress

This month I almost finished the large floral arcade band!

Almost finished because I haven’t done the bullion knot middles of the flowers. That’s ok. I will get to them just like the acorn caps, probably at the very end. Even though my hoop stitching hasn’t messed up the satin stitches or the french knot centers of the flowers in the pansy band, I am a little concerned about that with the bullion knots. Anyway, I wanted to move on!

Here is the whole thing so far…

Moving along is right…as soon as I got the berry vine in this week, I picked the colors for Dorcas’ inscription band and got started on that. I wanted to see how Smyrna crosses look instead of eyelets. I really like them. I think they look great.

They are much faster stitching than eyelets. And I really love the texture.

So what is the plan? A finish in Sampler September. I will post my progress every Monday this month (because I get my best stitching in on Sunday usually.) I’ll post every couple days on Instagram as there is progress. Here is my check list:

  1. Berries on berry band
  2. “Dorcas Haynes Her Work” Smyrna band
  3. Satin Stitch Floral Band…the last official band
  4. My own inscription band at the bottom
  5. Acorn caps in detached buttonhole
  6. Bullion knot floral centers.
  7. change “LIKE” in the verse band to a better color. The light pink is driving me crazy because the color is the wrong tone compared to the other words.

With daily stitching I know I can do this, or at least get very close. It is very exciting.
