Sampler September and BBD Check In

I’ve been enjoying my Sampler September projects. I focused on making it up to the top of Anna Millet. I am eager to chop this sampler off of the quarter yard of linen she is on, which I’ll do immediately once I see how big she actually will be! It is like holding a table cloth to stitch on!

Then why don’t I just cut it in the first place? Well, I can be bad at measuring, I’m usually too generous, and I don’t like have my project nice and squared up on one side, and then several extra inches on the other side. I can avoid that by cutting after borders are determined. Anyway, now that I’ve got the top edge determined, and I need to work on the width…that means going over my “stitch the right half for Sampler September” guideline, but it will actually make me happier about my progress. Did you need to know all that? No. This is just writing up my process.

Mary Ellen is coming along. I finished the leaves and branch so I am excited to be starting the parrot next.

The parrot is my favorite element in this sampler so I saved it for last (also I miscounted and I needed a more reliable motif off of which to count the parrot. Everything is in place now and I am looking forward to bringing it to life.

I finished the first Blackbird from my multi-project kitting kick. Bluebird’s Needles and Pins from With Needle and Thread.

I love the colors on this one. The linen is Dill from PTP. It’s pretty bright like it was dyed with pickle juice, but I really like it with these thread colors. This makes a sweet pin cushion. I need to select some backing fabric and trim.
