A work plan for this year
I am glad it is February so I can work on my alphabet samplers. I have come up with a bit of a plan for managing my huge pile of stitching for the year. What I will try to do is spend the first 7 to 10 days of the month doing my alphabets: the Drawn Thread’s Sampler of Stitches and the Jeannette Douglas ABC Sampler. I will spend my car-waiting time on an ornament or Small, and the rest of my evenings can be dedicated to another larger project. That’s not as organized as some of you, but it’s a good start to keep me plugging away on things this year!
Here are the next letters and bands of ABC. Letters are very easy and nice to stitch. Iβm so hesitant about my colors for the bands. I donβt think it will look terrible but will they be well coordinated? Maybe I picked too many colors. I need to make sure to use each color 3-4 times like the original.
Here is my work on Sampler of Stitches. This one is SO fun! I regret putting it off so long! I decided to work vertically instead of across on the sections so my next letter was J. I want to see what the jonquil looked like with the colors I chose and I really like it. I am deciding what color to make the Jessica stitches that go along the bottom. I’m inclined to make them red instead of yellow. I love Jessicas!
My Small/ornament for February is the Sugar Plum Fairy. Here is the progress for the last week. This is just like stitching a Mill Hill ornament. I am enjoying it. Soon it will be time for beads!!
My larger project this month is the anniversary sampler for my parents. I have gotten it out and looked at it again to figure out where I left off. I am not enthusiastic about the Trebizond (silk pearl) border but I also didn’t attempt to find a substitute. I should just dive in and get it over with! The rest of the project will be nice to do!
That sounds like a great plan, quite similar to mine although my car project is a bath time project!
I do love both your alphabets and I’m looking forward to seeing these grow this year.
Thank you! I find it has been so good for me over the past many years to carve out these little waiting times as stitching times. That makes it all a joy!
A good plan Mary, we all have different projects and plans, the frick is to do what’s best for you and not be pulled into others’ ideas. Lovely alphabet stitching
Very wise advice!
Your plan for tackling your projects sounds very doable, Mary. I love the alphabets you are stitching so much. I wish I was more of a sampler stitcher because I truly enjoy stitching alphabets. Your little ornament looks so cute so far–very pretty colors. Hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day weekend β₯
Alphabets are fun for me too. I studied graphic design in college and maybe that’s why. Or maybe because they seem to go quickly.
Your plan sounds very good to me. I love Sugar Plum Fairy!
Thank you! Yes, it is perfectly pink for you! π
I love your current projects Mary. I like the idea of a plan and I have committed to one for three of my projects this year. Everything else will depend on my mood π
I too am largely a MOOD stitcher, but if I go that way all the time I will never finish anything!!! π
Good idea to have a plan. I like the Drawn Thread piece and the colours you have used. striking.
Thank you! It is even more jewel like in person. I’m quite happy with the red!
