Kiriki Press Advent Box
There have been so many enticing offerings from various stitching sources recently, I have been so excited about the possibilities for new projects! I absolutely could not resist the adorable Advent box offered by Kiriki Press…12 kits to make felt ornaments over the course of December…the ornaments revealed in the teasers leading up to the release were all darling. I bought it. And I am so glad I did! I received my kit this past week and I had to see what it was right away. I opened the first ornament and got started right away. And I finished it in 1 day. I am just delighted with it.
Here is the first ornament, a pear. So sweet! I love pears. The details on this one are so whimsical and folk arty. It’s lovely.
I couldn’t resist starting ornament #2 immediately…here’s my start. It’s a gingerbread house. I have basted the front 2 pieces together.
I cannot say enough good things about this kit. Everything is SO well organized. All the pieces are pre-cut (so neatly! Maybe with a laser machine?) The smaller components are still attached to their main piece but can easily be snipped free. There is a heavy cardboard shape for each ornament with holes drilled in it for basting threads to hold the pieces together when you are doing the final assembly. All the pieces to stitch are printed just where the stitching should go. The thread is all nicely organized on a custom cardboard thread organizer. Each ornament kit comes with clear and precise instructions. A master instruction sheet has stitch diagrams and finishing instructions…this is probably the best kit I have ever worked from. I would heartily recommend it for a beginner, but as an advanced stitcher it is so enjoyable and relaxing not to have to figure everything out. I am going to love every minute of these projects, plus the finished ornaments are quality and sweet and will be enjoyed for years.
I can only hope that Kiriki Press will make more kits like this in the future. I don’t know that she’s offered felt ornaments kits before…mostly she is famous for her animal doll kits (I hope Santa will bring me the sheep!), but if she does more ornaments, I will be first in line to get them! I can’t wait to share them with you over the coming weeks! At least until I get distracted by the holidays!
